MyTop 2 Cities in Germany

The first photo gallery below contains pictures from Munich. Munich was a beautiful city and extremely clean. We took a bike tour while we were there and that is how we saw most of the sites. While we were in Munich, we stayed in "The Tent," which was the equivalent to an enormous circus tent. We were given mats, sheets, covers and pillows to sleep with. Although we were traveling in the summer months, it did get cold at night, so the blankets came in handy. The tent was an inexpensive and reasonable way for us to stay there for three days.

The second photo gallery below contains pictures from the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial.

On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a “school of violence” for all SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200,000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidiary camps. More than 43,000 of them died. On April 29, 1945, American troops liberated survivors.

Although it was a very humbling and emotional experience, I would recommend that anyone traveling through Dachau take the time to see this site and remember those whose lives were taken here.
